Friday Faves

It's been a wild and wonderful week. We can hardly believe September is almost gone and October is knocking at the door, but we'll be happy to answer because great things are happening here at Post & Gray. If you haven't been in lately, be sure to visit soon because we have some seriously great stuff in the store right now.

Anyways, we just wanted to share
a few of our favorite things from the
week and hope that you have a
fabulously refreshing weekend!

It must be this time of year, but we can't enough of plush and cozy throws, which is a good thing because we have a luxurious selection in stock right now.
This Missoni throw, by the way, is outrageously pretty.

We still love the Cusco bedding from Aura, along with pretty much every bedding set they have...

Purple's definitely been on our minds as some gorgeous purple fabrics have arrived this week as well.

This Gold Dipped Flatware from Anthropologie is just fabulous.  It feels more organic than some of the other gold flatware out there right now, but you really can't go wrong with anything gold or brass in general at the moment.

We have been so lucky here in Charlotte with phenomenal weather lately and it's made us all want to get outside. This four seasons porch is just too much. Seriously, between the black & white slipcovered and butterfly chairs we just don't even know where to begin.  Love, love.

Hop you are all able to enjoy some fresh air and some favorite things this weekend!

cottage chic

Eclectic Bedroom design by Providence Interior Designer Kate Jackson Design

We love sharing our ideas on Houzz and getting ideas for our own projects.  We loved the "Cottage Chic" feature last week along with several shots from this week's feature. The combination of the light teals, crisp whites and natural wood tones in the first space is so refreshing and happy. We would love to relax with a book on the daybed or gaze out the window and simply day dream.

The second photo from the "Cottage Chic" feature is this fabulous and fun kitchen.  The combination of the faded wood plank walls with the clean white subway tiles add layers of interest, while the shaker style cabinets keep it casual along with the gray baker's cabinet and red stools. Very chic indeed.

We had to include this shot of Trina Turk's Blue Peacock Comforter & Duvet set. Though not in last week's "Cottage Chic" feature it is in a feature this week that reminds us how on point these bright, varying shades of blue are this season.

This kitchen, from one of this week's features has the cutest breakfast nook.  We love the use of the large black & white road map. We've always loved using old maps, and seriously the bigger the better. This one's a fabulous focal point in this space.

We know you all love exploring Houzz as much as we do.  I guess we're all searching for inspiration...

416 Kingston

We had the opportunity to visit with the lovely Ms. Kathy Wilder, of Kathy Wilder Interiors, today and snap some pics of her gorgeous home in Dilworth before the Home & Garden tour officially began.  Her style is a bit eclectic and minimal, but always with an eye towards comfortable luxury. Her home is incredibly beautiful, but you get the sense it's truly lived in and loved.

Now, these photographs were not taken professionally and probably don't do her fabulous home justice, but you still cannot miss her stylish eye and attention to detail -- the details are everywhere and they're all interesting.  Now, it doesn't hurt that her home came with some gorgeous original details, like the moldings and hardwood floors that are literally throughout the entire home - even the original glass & brass door knobs still look outrageously good.

Okay, okay enough chit-chat - here are photos you've all been waiting for.

The always practical breakfast nook, off the kitchen and with a perfect view of their sweet back yard.

She seriously mixes styles and period pieces so effortlessly...

Kathy decided to incorporate some open shelving into her kitchen and it's the perfect place to display her pretty kitchen accessories.

Are these brass cocktail picks the coolest things you've ever seen?  Martini anyone?

Kathy's formal dining room has to be one of the most stunning rooms in her home.  Between the original hand-painted mural, the fireplace and the coolest end chairs you've ever seen . . . I just don't know where to begin.  But I do know she picked up these fabulous end chairs here at Post & Gray!

There are two family rooms and a library.  The first space is the most formal and is the perfect spot to gather with friends.  The second is a cozy space for Kathy & her family to snuggle up by the fire and watch the television. And the library, has to be her boy's favorite spot; It's got masculine touches and is the perfect space for them to pile on the couch and watch a movie.

This is a piece of art, drawn by Kathy's six year old son.  She had it framed and it looks right at home in the library against the navy wall.  Love, love this idea.

Some of our favorite details...

Interesting vignette with the framed charcoals & coral sculpture +  this fabulous bronze light fixture in the living room.

THE most beautiful and interesting hallway . . . possibly ever, including this cool tree-trunk inspired lamp from Post & Gray.

The boy's rooms: They're so fun & lively, the perfect space for three boys to grow.

And finally, a cozy reading corner in the master and a sweet
display of family photos in her dressing room.

Well, this was certainly more than a sneak-peek, but we hope it is as inspiring for you as it is for us.  Enjoy Dilworth's lovliest homes & gardens this weekend.  And don't forget to stop by Post & Gray for our Sidewalk Sale. You may just find something as lovely as one of Kathy's treasures.

Thank you Kathy for letting us preview your home. It is a beautiful reflection of you and your family  xoxo

casual living

Here at Post & Gray, we love all spaces -- big, small, formal, eclectic, modern, traditional, it doesn't matter to us.  But lately we've found ourselves drawn to the casual spaces, the ones that feel really lived-in - where color palettes are played with and patterns are mixed.  We've never been afraid of color, pattern or texture, and we wanted to inspire you this week with several spaces we love.

We adore the mix of chairs in this dining room. The upholstered ikat end chairs paired with the turqouise side chairs is the perfect combination. Relating perfectly to the artwork above the buffet, these chairs though different, keep this space perfectly pulled together.

Who doesn't love a color palette combining both coral and navy?  It's a fabulous update to the classic red and blue and we love the mix of patterns in the next space.

We've always loved the next space, a fabulous dining room by Boston-based, Hudson Interior Design.  While the color palette is much tighter, the oversized chandelier and graphic print of the draperies and chairs keep this nook feeling fresh and inviting.

All we know is that whoever owns the next space must have style and personality because this space certainly reflects it. The lime green in the chandelier, pillow and rug really pop against the magenta duvet.  What keeps this space pulled together and so stylish has to be the lack of color or pattern on the wall along with the high ceiling which allows tons of light into the space.  This is a fun, flirtatious bedroom and we just love it.

                      Eclectic Bedroom design

We all love Lonny Mag and this sunroom is the perfect reason why. Even though the space is small, by filling it with one large sectional in a light, neutral tone instead of several chairs, ensures maximum seating and the best view for all.  The oversized mirror reflects light and the patterned draperies pull your eyes to the great outdoors.  Who wouldn't want this stylish getaway in their home? No hands here.

We hope you've found some inspiration in these fabulous, lively and casual spaces.  Have a great week!

unlimited textiling

Despite our busy weekend we still managed to find time to peruse Pinterest  and came across this lovely gem that has inspired us to go a bit more bold this week. There are so many details in this space, from the ceilings to the wall treatment, but we are loving these club chairs in blue Ikat. You will not believe it, but these chairs are only $149.99 at Target! Yes, it's true.

Our love for bold prints does not end with Ikat - we love them all and wanted to bring you some inspiration to kick off your week.

Those of you who have been in Post & Gray know we love gorgeous fabrics and we love offering them to you at a steal. While we were lusting through Kelley's design studio (Kelley Vieregg, the fabulous interior designer whose studio happens to be located in our building . . . lucky us) we came across these gorgeous suzani samples from Quadrille. Immediately we were lost in day dreams of the glory that could be in each of our homes.

While the fabric below isn't from Quadrille, you can see how effortlessly such a bold print can be incorporated into any space.

Our love for bold prints is trickling its way into our fall wardrobes as well. There was a resurgence of floral and the beloved paisley on the fall runways and this floral tunic and paisley wide leg trouser from ZARA are two of our current faves.

When it comes to textiles and beautiful prints, the options are truly unlimited. We don't think you can wrong with any of them, as long as you love it.

The Future's so Bright

While the temps may be cooling, we are still loving bright shades and incorporating them wherever we can.

Check out the adorable Counting Sheep Sweater paired with the Skinny Skinny Ankle Cord in fireplace red. Both from Madewell.  How great would this sweater look with one of our favorite No. 2 pencil skirts from J.Crew? So Kate Bosworth.

And while we would take a pair of Madewell's Sidewalk Skimmers in every color and print, the pair below, in bright lemon, has moved up the wish list from want, to need now.

But its not just the fashion industry that's seeing
a saturation of brights. No my friends, bold pops of color have made their way into fashionable homes everywhere and we couldn't be happier.

You may hesitate, thinking to yourself that
bright accents are unsophisticated, but we disagree and think the risk is worth the payoff.
Check out some of the gorgeous spaces below that have made huge statements incorporating bright tones.

Eclectic Living Room design by Boise Interior Designer Judith Balis

How chic are these magenta arm chairs? Seriously, we can imagine them in so many spaces - Against a lacquered charcoal or navy wall. Maybe with a dark, worn-in turkish rug. Add some gilded accents, or tone them down with grass cloth wallpaper. Oh my, the imagination runs wild.

Charles Luck Stone Center

This lemon-colored sofa has to be one of our favorites, and several of the pieces in this space come from a local gem: Luxe Home Couture. The sofa is not only a show-stopper, but it actually looks really comfy.  If only the dogs could keep their paws clean.

Maybe you already have a fabulous sofa and are simply looking for a simple way to update your space. Think toss pillows, a great accent lamp, or perhaps just a fabulous lamp shade, like the turquoise beauty below. It's fabulousness is accented by the great gilded mirror. You can never go wrong with turquoise and gold.

Trend Alert!

Okay, so if any of you are like me - you're ready for fall. The clean, crisp air, the smell of wood burning on the fire, and of course...the boots, the scarves, the sweaters, oh my!

A huge trend this fall is animal print and really anything evoking safari. Use them sparingly, but use them please. Maybe a great cardigan or scarf, some throw pillows, a great picture frame, or cozy throw blanket. "Where do I find these great trends" you might ask? Well, of course, Post & Gray has you covered! For the do-it-yourselfer, we have some incredible animal print fabrics right now. For the one looking for a gift or a unique accent for your home, we have some great frames and pillows. We've got it all and more arriving daily.
